December Walk 2010

Thirteen hardy souls (foolhardy souls) turned up at Anderwood car park for what turned out to be a pleasant, if rather chilly walk through the frosty woodland this morning. There was a light sprinkle of snow on the ground but none on the trees to give it that Christmassy look. No sunshine but no snow, pleasant company and not too arduous. We did see others 'wending their way' and it was nice to know we weren't
the only 'nuts on the ground' . Was worth all the dressing up...

November Walk

Lucky again as the promised rain held off all morning. An enjoyable walk, thirty of us plus Dillon, through mainly forest areas and tracks. A slightly different route than intended as the Forestry Commission were at work. The trees were in their Autumnal colours. Lots to investigate in the way of fungi and at the end of the walk we saw the family of semi tame white deer.

November Walk

October Walk

25 people and our canine friend enjoyed a really good walk amongst the trees on slippery muddy tracks. It was a mainly wooded area with some clearings with many examples of fungi. We met two men who were busy harvesting them in baskets perhaps for some chic restaurant at fancy prices. Word was that they were Portuguese but as none of us can speak the language it remains in doubt. The weather was really good clear blue skies and a warm sun.

September Walk

Fridays walk was great, twenty one of us [well that's what I counted on the photo] turned up and the weather was very kind to us. We came across a variety of 'things' we don't normaly see on our outings, one being a grass runway complete with Airplanes
Plenty of harvesting going on but no one was sure exactly what crop it was. Also plenty of natures bounty about, nuts, sloes, mushrooms, well we think they were mushrooms if Jacks still alive then I guess they were.

August Walk Millyford Bridge

Despite the threatened rain it again held off until we completed our walk. Twenty of us and the usual small companion Dillon on a walk that mainly kept to gravel paths with far reaching views over to the Island. Really enjoyable.

July Walk in Winchester

Doubtful weather forecast but as usual it was far better than they said just a few spots. Different walk from previous following the river bank for most of the way coming out at St Cross and Winchester College before crossing the river and coming back on the other side. Ideal walk and a change from the Forest forays. There were twenty of us and Dillon the dog.
